Juniperus chinensis is one of the most classic and versatile bonsai species, beloved for its fine, scale-like foliage, strong vitality, and exceptional formability. It responds well to pruning and traditional deadwood techniques, remains attractively green year-round, and tolerates full sun provided there is adequate air circulation. Thanks to its flexible branches and natural tendency toward elegant, dynamic lines, it lends itself perfectly to styles such as moyogi, shakan, and especially jin-shari accents, which further emphasize its character.
