Collection: Soil and substrate for Bonsai

Bonsai substrates are almost always blends of various types of soil, often originating from Japan. We offer pre-mixed substrates that you can use immediately for repotting your bonsai trees, but you can also create your own mix by purchasing Akadama and Bims separately, for example.

We sell the following types of substrates and bonsai soils:

Akadama : Granulated lightly fired clay, the most commonly used base substrate for bonsai.

Kiryu : Volcanic rock for extra drainage in the soil and mineral addition.

Kanuma : Special acidic soil for Azalea and other acid-loving plants.

Keto : Sticky soil for creating rock plantings and other steep and hanging surfaces.

Bims : The perfect mix to give your soil mixture extra drainage and nutrient-binding capacity.
